Champawat: In a welcome news for all the sports enthusiasts in Champawat, the state government has decided to upgrade the Goralchaud field into a full fledged stadium. Shailesh Bagauli, Secretary in charge has given orders for preparing Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the task of converting the Goralhaud field into a stadium. Uttar Pradesh state Development Corporation has been chosen as the executing agency for the project.

Land demarcations had led to complications in earlier proposals

According to district sports officer RS Dhami, around 200 nallis of land is required to develop the stadium, earlier the department had chosen Naultak as the site where the stadium should come up but land measurements found the area to be less than 100 nallis, thus Goralchaud was chosen.

2 Ex-CM had also announced development of stadium in their terms

Nityanand Swami, Uttarakhand’s first chief minister and B.C Khanduri had announced construction of stadium in Champawat when they were the state supremo, however they turned out to be empty promises, the latest developments have made the locals hopeful once again.
