Kuhoo strikes gold for Uttarakhand at the All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament

Kuhoo Garg teamed up with M.R Arjun to take the gold in the mixed doubles category in the All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament which concluded today. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat was the chief guest for the occasion. The presentation ceremony took place at the Badminton Hall in Parade Ground.

Tournament dominated by shuttlers from the south

4 players from Telangana made it to the finals of different categories at the All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament winning two titles in the process. All players hailed from the Pullela Gopichand academy and one of the finals also featured Gayatri Pullela Gopichand, daughter of main coach of the Indian Badminton team. She won the title in the under 17 match of the girls doubles category. Players from Kerala  and Andhra Pradesh too had a good outing in the tournament.

Badminton stadiums to come up in Haldwani and Dehradun

The amazing enthusiasm about All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament held in Dehradun saw about 1400 players registering themselves for various categories. This fact caught the eye of the CM and he declared at the presentation ceremony that in order to promote the sport badminton courts will come up in Dehradun and Haldwani.
