ITPB Academy celebrates 38th foundation day

Mussoorie/Dehradun:  The Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Academy in Mussoorie marked its 38th foundation day amidst zest and zeal yesterday. DIG Devinder Singh also paid tributes at the martyr’s memorial on the academy campus by laying the floral wreath.

He said the Academy was founded on September 15, 1978, and was initially named High Altitude Defense and Survival Academy, where two wings- administrative and command– operated. In 1990, its name was changed to ITBP Academy.

Devinder Singh, ITBP DIG and Deputy Director of the Academy, was presented the guard of honour by the jawans to mark the occasion. He extended greetings to the jawans and their families on the occasion. The DIG further said the Academy was running several training courses for officers and subordinate officers and was imparting training to them in rock climbing, commando training etc. The Academy was also imparting international-level training to the officials and jawans from other forces, he added.
