Meet the flying MP from Mysore

To boost tourism in Mysore, MP Pratap Simha turns sky diver for a day

Mysore MP Pratap Simha took Karnatak tourism to new heights quite literally when he jumped out of an airplane 13000 ft above sea level. The BJP MP performed this dare devil stunt to promote tourism in Mysore. Doing something different from the league he thought of skydiving from the Mysore airport on Sunday. Simha is one of the very few MPs who have actually done this courageous adventure act in Indian politics. Mysore airport has been holding skydiving runs since April 2015. He was a journalist who quit profession after he got elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014 on BJP ticket.

Accompanied by an instructor from the U.S., Mr. Simha (38) took the jump which was conducted by Su Kakini Enterprises Private Limited, the country’s only certified agency for skydiving. The agency has been holding skydiving at the airport since April this year.

With Mysuru possessing ideal weather, the MP said efforts will be made to promote Mysuru as a skydiving hub, which would also help boost tourism.

Skydiving is catching up among the youth, and local and outstation adventure enthusiasts were making use of the facility at the airport, which has been identified as one of the key drop zones in south India.
