Now no special treatment in Doon Hospital

Hospital facing with severe crunch funds forced to refer patients to other hospitals

Dehradun: The future of the state government run Doon Hospital, is looking shrouded in uncertainty. The state government’s policy to provide free diagnostic and other services to patients under the Chief Minister’s Insurance Scheme cost the hospital dear andpushed it into financial crisis.

The hospital administration has now decided to stop special treatment for VIP’s and the common man alike due to lack of funds. Such has the situation become that the largest government run hospital in the state doesn’t have the monetary sources to buy equipment’s and medicines for treatment of serious ailments. Doon Hospital is one of the well known and trusted hospitals in doon having good and skilled doctors. In fact, in the month of August, the hospital created a record by tending around 50,000 patients at the general outdoor patient department and it managed to earn around Rs 7.45 lakh as user charge from them.

Till now the hospital administration was free to provide medicines, surgeries etc to patients having serious ailments but a government’s order has now put a restraint on the spending capacity of the hospital. The government has also stopped LP facilities at the hospital.
