Sameer Raturi, who had been in the news for successfully leading an agitation against stone crushers in Maletha village, announced a ‘Save Himalayas’ movement in Uttarakhand.

“All over the state, people in various villages are fighting, somewhere for construction of roads, or upgradation of schools, stone crushers or hydel projects. But none of the state government officials ever go there to assuage their concerns. Owing to this, villagers are migrating and, the land and natural resources are being usurped by the mafia at the behest of the state government. This has to come to a halt,” said Pradeep Kukreti, another activist.
