Uttarakhand government to begin yatra akin to Kailash Mansorovar for Om Parvat

Dharchula/Pithoragarh: Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat announced the launch of Om Parvat yatra which will be similar to the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from 2016 onwards. Addressing a gathering at his Vidhan Sabha constituency Dharchula, Rawat also said that the government would be focusing on promotion and development of the ‘Chota Kailash‘ route. A scheme to promote cultivation of local herbs and medicinal plants is also in the pipeline. The chief minister laid the foundation stone for 13 roads to be constructed in the area in association with NABARD whose total cost is around 161 crore rupees.

He said Om Parvat as one of iconic heritage of Uttarakhand and that the state government has made elaborate plans to promote it. He expressed hopefulness that once the Om Parvat yatra starts it will also generate employment opportunities for the locals in the area.
