Delhi to witness Federer Nadal rivalry

New Delhi: Indian tennis fans will get to see Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal- two of the biggest names in tennis live in action courtesy of the Indian Premiere Tennis League. Nadal, who made his IPTL debut in Manila, will turn out for local team and defending champions Indian Aces while Federer, who was part of the Aces last year, will play for the UAE Royals.

The Federer and Nadal rivalry is one of the most celebrated rivalries in tennis and the duo have often been credited with playing perhaps one of the greatest match in tennis their 2008 Wimbledon encounter.

“I am looking forward to playing in Delhi, my first time here,” Nadal said. “I have played a few times in Chennai. I also have a centre of my foundation in Anantapur, and I’m happy that some children from that centre will be able to come to the games in Delhi.”

Incidentally, it was Federer who had filled in for the Spaniard for the Indian Aces in the inaugural season of the IPTL. Defending champions Indian Aces lead the points table after winning three of their four matches in the previous two legs — Japan and the Phillippines — and with home crowd support they will look to put their best foot forward and keep their lead intact.
