Now buy tickets online for Nainital Zoo

Pandit GB Pant High Altitude Zoo, Nainital will soon go online for donation and adoption of animals. Zoo administration is also planning to sell tickets for visitors online so that they do not have to stand in queues during rush hours.

“All arrangements are almost in place to go online by next month. Soon, those who want to help with money or adopt animals can do so online. Tourists visiting the zoo will also be able to book their tickets online,” said Tejasvini Arvind Patil, director of the zoo. At present, 27 animals are adopted by people from Nainital and across the country. People who visit the zoo have to purchase tickets manually. A ticket for an adult costs Rs 25 for children and Rs 50 for adults. Shuttle service is also provided to visitors to ferry them up a steep hill almost a kilometre from Mall Road up to the gate of the zoo. Established in 1984, the facility was opened to public in 1995. Situated on the hill popularly known as Sher Ka Danda, at a height of around 6,900 feet above sea level, the zoo is spread across 11 acres.

The only other high altitude zoo in north India, besides those in Darjeeling and Sikkim, the Nainital zoo houses total 217 animals of 33 different species.
