New traffic plan implemented in Doon

The police have imposed an elaborate traffic management plan to regulate traffic in busiest markets of the city.

The police imposed restriction on the entry of two and four-wheelers to Paltan Bazaar from 4 to 8 pm considering the huge flow of shoppers to the market. The barricades were placed at Clock Tower and Kotwali to prevent the entry of commercial and private vehicles in the bazaar.

The parking of vehicles were strictly restricted between Ashley Hall and Clock Tower. The police laid special focus to decongest traffic at inter-crossings in the city. The responsibility to decongest traffic was given to Circle Officer (City) Manoj Katiyal and Kotwali SHO SS Bisht.

SSP Sadanand Datte said the new traffic plan was imposed to streamline traffic in the busiest markets of the city. He said SHOs were instructed to ensure that pavements remain encroachment free for pedestrians. Policemen were asked to issue challans if vehicle owners were found guilty of using black films, driving without number plates, using pressure horns or violating traffic norms.

As many as 167 vehicle owners were challaned last week for using pressure horns in their vehicles.
