Unemployed Teachers Association to launch protest against HC order
The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified youth will take on to the city streets on Monday seeking jobs in government schools.
The members of Unemployed Teachers Association (UTA) have been demanding that the Uttarakhand government challenge the high court order which has quashed appointment of 1,200 teachers last week.
“The state government must challenge the high court decision in the double bench or at least come out with new job advertisements at the earliest. All we want is jobs in the primary government schools of the state and we are planning to start a protest again from Monday,” Manvir Rawat, president of UTA, told TOI.
The high court on Friday quashed the appointment of over 1,200 teachers appointed by the state government on February 17.
While rejecting the appointment, the court observed that the government did not include those who are BTC or holding diploma in elementary education in the advertisement for the jobs.
National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) had issued a notification making the diploma holders eligible for the jobs.
But, the Congress government had released recruitment advertisements for appointments of the primary school teachers post before the NCTE notification.
“We want that apart from the recently quashed 1,200 posts, at least 1,200 more posts should be advertised for the Bed, TET qualified unemployed teachers at the earliest. As by RTI response we have found out that there are much more vacant posts. We have protested in the past for long and we will not let our agitation go waste,” said Yashpal Singh, state-guardian of the association.
