Vasantotsav 2019 to be held at Rajbhavan on 9-10 March

Vasantotsav 2019 is starting from the Raj Bhavan on Saturday. In this two-day festival, people will be able to see the beautiful flowers. Two days the Raj Bhawan will be open to the public. Entry will remain free. On Thursday, the officials of the Raj Bhavan, Garden Department finalized the preparations. D. Senthil Pandian gave the information.

Main attractions

The Governor Baby Rani Maurya will inaugurate event on 9th March, 2019 to 11:00 am Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Garden & Food Industries Minister Subodh Uniyal will also attend the flower exhibition. At 11:05 in the morning, the Governor will release special postage stamp. From 11:40 a.m. there will be exhibition, Judo-karate, Khupri dance, cultural program.

10 March 2019- A flower exhibition will open for the public from 10:00 am, display of Yoga Activities from 10.30 am, 03.17 pm onwards, prize distribution to the winners of various competitions.

Polythene free will spring fest

The Governor said that the spring festival will be completely polythene free this time. No polyethylene will be used. This way a message of clean environment will be given.

Art Competition for School Children

Art competition will be organized in Vasantotsav for children between the ages of five and 18 years. Children can participate in painting, Rangoli competition. Disabled children will also be participating along with garbage collecting children.

Vertical garden in small space

In the spring season, the common people will be told how, through Vertical Gardens, they can also create the perfect garden in less space. In less places in cities, the people would be made aware about growing organic vegetables and flowers on roof tops and balconies.

200 crore turnover

Prior to the formation of Uttarakhand, flowers were produced on just 150 hectares of land in the state. Which has now increased to 1533 hectares. In it, the polyhouse alone is on 110 hectares of land. Among them are commercial production of Gulab, Menda, Rajnigandha flowers, such as Zerbera, Carnation, Gladiolus, Lilium, Orchid in the form of cutflowers. 2539 Metric tonnes of Loose Gulab, Genda, Rajnigandha like loose flower and 15.50 million cutflowers are being produced. Business has reached close to 200 crore in total.
