Boy scores 100/100 marks in Economics paper and fails the exam!

The Bihar topper fiasco hadn’t died down and a new exam fraud case has come up in Gujarat. Scoring a perfect 100 in any exam is no mean feat and a 12th grader from Gujarat learnt it the hard way. Instead of burning the midnight oil, the student tried to fool the examiners by checking his answer sheet himself!. He would have gotten away with the con had it not been for a computer software that checks the answer scripts for total.

Student checks own paper, software catches the error

After writing his economics paper for the Gujarat Secondary & Higher Education Board exam, the student checked it himself with red ink before submitting it to the supervisor. He awarded himself marks for all his answers so that they totaled 100, hoping the examiner would just total the marks assuming it was checked by a colleague.

Surprisingly, the examiner did exactly what the student expected, and the boy scored full marks in economics.

The student had tried the same trick in his Geography paper too, but it was caught by the examiner who re-checked the paper.

The board has filed a copying case against the boy. He will soon appear before the examination reforms committee and could be debarred from appearing in the two exams – geography and economics. A notice has also been sent to the examiners.
