12 lakh saplings planted in Almora and Pithoragarh

In an event organized by a battalion of the Indian Army, 12 lakh saplings were planted in four different places of Pithoragarh and Almora district in a single day on Sunday.
Colonel Nandu Kumar, commanding officer of the 130 Ecological Task Force led 15,000 people to participate in the ‘green’ deed.
Kumar said that the team selected land at Pabhai and Ghigarani village of Bin block, Duliabagar of Munswari block of Pithoragarh and Bhaiswara farm Hawalbagh of Almora district to plant the saplings.
The participants included volunteers from various NGOs, schoolchildren, various government departments, women and four companies of the task force.
The saplings were grown in the eco task force nursery.
Earlier, On June 5th, World Environment Day, more than a lakh saplings were planted around the Almora and Pithoragarh districts of the Kumaon region by 130 ecological task force of Territorial Army, which is an ecological battalion dedicated to protect the ecology through afforestation.
