RPO to organize passport mela on July 23

Regional Passport Office, Dehradun is ready to organize a ‘Passport Mela’ at Hathibarkala Passport Seva Kendra in the state capital on July 23. The services will be rendered to all applicants from all 13 districts of Uttarakhand.

The applicants have to apply online for appointment opening on July 19 at 4pm and this facility is available on the official website www.passportindia.gov.in . “The applicants have to submit the application form online and generate Application Reference Number (ARN) sheet before visiting the Kendra. The applicant should be present in person with all the requisite documents” said regional passport officer, Vijay Shanker Pandey.

Officials from the passport office also asserted that they are working on reducing the appointment cycle to 3 days which is 6 days at present. The appointment generated by the applicant can be attended within 6 days from the date of applying online.

The office is also trying to organize the mela every fortnight or every 21 days but given the climatic condition and technical server upgradation of Tata Consultancy Services every two weeks has rendered the move impossible for now. TCS takes care of the technical aspect of the process of issuing the passports across the country.

The team is already testing the requisite technical viability needed for organising a hassle free passport mela. Applications from ‘Tatkaal’ category will not be entertained in the mela.
