Govt teachers to get 2 days’ special leave, 1 travel leave per year

Uttarakhand Chief minister Harish Rawat announced that government teachers will be granted two days’ special leave and one day travel leave in a year.

While making the announcement on Monday at Raj Bhawan here after participating in an award ceremony for teachers, Rawat asked top officials in the state education department to issue an order regarding the same in the next two days.

Rawat said these three extra leave will be treated as earned leave. He said that teachers serving in far-flung institutions can avail themselves of at least one day travel leave to reach their hometowns.

“We are granting these three additional leave to the teachers to give them relief, but at the same time they should avoid shirking their duties and make it a point that lakhs of students belonging to economically backward classes do not suffer,” said Rawat.

About 5 lakh state government teachers will be able to avail themselves of these leave apart from other annual leave.
