Man held in for note exchange;₹ 2000 denomination currency notes worth ₹ 4.5 lakhs recovered

In a major accomplishment for Dehradun police the cops nabbed an electrician from a city hotel with new currency notes of Rupees 2000 denomination worth Rs 4.5 lakh. Black to white money conversion has been prevalent throughout the nation ever since the government decided to scrap 1000 and 500 denomination notes. Police believes that the man was working on a commission basis to convert black money to white.

According to Dehradun SP Ajay Singh the special crime cell of Doon police swung into action as soon as they got a tip off about the money laundering taking place in the city. The man who has been living in Dehradun for the past 7-8 years has been unable to give a satisfactory reason to the police about the source of the new notes.
