PM Modi to address rally in Dehradun on December 27

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public rally at Parade Ground in Dehradun on December 27, his first in the state capital since he assumed office in May 2014. PM Modi is likely to announce several development projects for the hill state, including a network of all-weather roads to Char dham, ahead of assembly polls next year.

Confirming the PM’s visit, state BJP president Ajay Bhatt said, “The PM will lay the foundation stone of a network of all-weather roads to Char dham during his visit.

The ambitious project aims to ensure uninterrupted all weather safe journey for pilgrims to the four shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. Describing the project as “close to BJP’s heart”, Bhatt said the Centre had directly sanctioned Rs 11,500 crore for it.

Seven 889km stretches will be constructed under the project. To enhance road safety, landslide hazard zones will be identified and bypasses, bridges, tunnels and elevated corridiors built.
