3 arrested with 8 kg charas in Uttarakhand

Three persons were arrested today and over 8 kgs of ‘charas’ was seized from their possession in Lohaghat sub-division in the third such case in Champawat district this year.

“The trio has been booked under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,” Meenakshi Nautiyal, Lohaghat police station incharge, said.

“In an operation by the special task force of Kumaon police, 8.2 kilograms of charas was seized while it was being carried to Delhi by the trio in a car,” she said.

According to Champawat police, it is the third such case of drug smuggling in the district this year.

In January, 910 grams of charas was seized in the district and 3.5 kgs of the contraband was seized in March.
