NTAGI to discuss about vaccine booster shots in India

The National Technical Advisory Group will consider a booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine for vaccination in India today. It is given at the time when the immunity of the person against the disease seems to be decreasing. However, till now no scientific basis or research has come to the fore regarding the benefits of booster dose against Covid.

In the midst of the arrival of a new variant of Corona in the country, Omicron, some experts have started emphasizing the need for a booster dose of the anti-Covid vaccine. According to the report of news agencies, the issue of giving additional doses of anti-corona vaccine to people with weak immunity will be considered in the meeting of the National Technical Advisory Group (NTAGI) on vaccination to be held on Monday. According to officials, an additional dose of the vaccine is different from the booster dose.

When is the booster dose given?

A booster dose is given to such a person after a predetermined period when it is believed that the immune response to the primary vaccination has decreased. At the same time, additional doses are given to individuals with weakened immunity when the primary vaccination does not provide adequate protection against infection and disease.
