Indo-Nepal border sealed for Nepal election phase 2; to reopen on June 29

The SSB has sealed the pull and bridges on the India-Nepal border in order to ensure hassle free elections in the Himalayan nation. The movement for the two countries will be closed on the border for the next few days.
In view of the second phase of elections to be held on June 28 in Nepal, international bridges have been closed since Monday morning. The Nepal border along Banbasa has also been sealed. With closing of the bridge, there is silence in the markets of Dharchula, Jhulaghat, Jaulji and Baluwakot Bazar.

In these markets, there are three to four thousand people coming from Nepal’s villages for shopping every day. Many people from the Indian region also go shopping in the Nepal market. The shutdown has stopped the movement between the two countries. Now the movement will start after the bridge opens on the morning of June 29.

In Dharchula, SSB jawans put locks on the bridge at 7 am on Monday morning. The bridge was opened for movement in the morning for an hour, but in the morning very few people came to the Indian market.
