Champion of “Mann ki Baat” is on “Maun Vrat”: Sonia Gandhi on Narendra Modi

Congress President launched an attack on PM Modi criticizing him of being silent on transgressions by the Minister of External Affairs and the chief ministers of MP and Rajasthan.

Remaining firm on the Congress stand demanding the resignations of Sushma Swaraj, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Vasundhara Raje, Sonia Gandhi said, “The prime minister has been very free with his promises yet he seems totally incapable of delivering on them.”

She also made it clear that that there can be no productive discussion and no meaningful proceedings as long as ‘those responsible for their wrong-doings remain in office.’

“Today, we have to listen to sermons on parliamentary behaviour from those who not only defended but also advocated disruption as a legitimate tactic when they were in the opposition.

“Yesterday’s agitators in both the Houses have suddenly become today’s champions of debate and discussion,” she said.

Gandhi refused to be drawn into any discussion and said her party will continue to protest unless external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh chief ministers Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan do not step down.

The Congress chief also accused the government of using ‘numerical strength as a source of arrogance rather than responsibility’ and said it is trying to substitute investigation by mere discussion.

“We are raising a very important issue with strong evidence, but the government is unwilling to take action in this regard,” she said at the meeting.
