ONGC to explore for natural gas in Uttarakhand
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) will explore natural gas and oil in the Himalayan region. For this purpose, the work of the survey has also been started. This survey is being done in Uttarakhand and in Himachal Pradesh.
Engineer Poorna Singh, who was involved in the survey team, told that Alfazio India Ltd is also taking collaborating in the survey work. This company searches for areas with natural gas and oil potential.
He said that the survey was started in September 2016 in Bageshwar district of Kumaon region, which lasted till June 2017. Under this, besides Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Chamoli were also covered. Now, from September this year, the survey work was started from Tilwara town of Rudraprayag, which has now reached Uttarkashi. He told that data collected from this survey, which started for the first time in Uttarakhand, will be analyzed.
Under the survey, 20 meter deep pits are being dug in the marked area. A special machine is being installed to analyze them. Data from this machine is being transferred to a chip. Soon it will be revealed what all content has been found in the Himalayas .
