8 died due to unknown disease in this country of Africa; WHO starts investigation

An unknown disease has been reported in the country of Equatorial Guinea in Central Africa. At least 8 people have died due to this so far. 200 people have also been quarantined for fear of infection. Health Minister Mitoha Ondo’o Ayekaba said that the disease was first reported on 7 February.

Ayekaba told that all those who died of infection had attended the same funeral ceremony a few days ago. Samples of the patients are being sent to the neighboring country Gabon to find out the cause of the disease. At the same time, some samples will also be sent to Dakar, the capital of Senegal.

Symptoms are nose bleed and fever

According to the news agency Reuters report, this infection is a hemorrhagic fever. In this, the patient first gets nose bleed, then fever, joint pain and body ache. The patient dies after a few hours. The 200 people who have been quarantined are currently asymptomatic.

WHO starts investigation

The World Health Organization (WHO) has launched an investigation into an unknown outbreak of infection in Equatorial Guinea. The WHO spokesperson told that the health agency is also testing the samples. The cause of this disease should be known in a few days.
