The movement to make Gairsain the capital of Uttarakhand saw support from Uttarakhand Kranti Dal. From Gairsain to Dehradun, there are continuous demonstrations in place demanding shifting of the capital.
The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) members and party workers sat on protest near the statue of late Indramani Badoni in Dehradun’s clocktower demanding making Gairsain the capital of Uttarakhand. The memorandum was also sent to the governor. In order to solve the capital issue, it was demanded to take initiative on their behalf.
Party leaders involved in organizing the meeting organized by the Metropolitan unit said that the residents of Uttarakhand state also put their self-esteem to the state. The State Movement started with the idea of development of backward areas on geographical basis. The resolution of making the capital Gaisain was passed in 1992. After several studies and scientific research, the Gairsain was found suitable for the capital. This was also the common sense. When the resolution of making Gairsain the capital was taken after the mass contemplation and discussion, it was inevitably suspended for political reasons.
