Chief Secretary announces ban of media in departments of Secretariat

Trivendra Singh Rawat led BJP government in Uttarakhand has banned the entry of journalists in sections of the Secretariat. On Thursday, Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh briefly conveyed this in a press conference. In this regard, on December 27, the announcement was made by the Department of Confidentiality, but confusion remained. The Chief Secretary thus came out himself to make the announcement and tell the governments side of the story.

In a press conference held in the Secretariat in on Thursday, the Chief Secretary said that no sensor has been imposed on the media by the government. Rather they have made an effort to organize the system. The chief secretary said that, the incomplete information is currently taking the form of news. It also raises questions on the reliability of the news. The working of the secretariat is also hampered by entry of outsiders in the sections, so the privacy decisions of the Cabinet are also being affected. These orders have been made to maintain the privacy of the cabinet. For accurate information reaching the media, departmental secretaries including information director general will share information of their respective departments at four o’clock every evening.
