Aadhar relief for pensioners in Uttarakhand

Government to release withheld pension of nearly 55 thousand  people

New year has come for 55 thousand pensioners of the state. After restricting the compulsion of the Aadhaar, the Directorate of Social Welfare is engaged in preparing for these thousands of pensioners in the new year. Till now, pension had been stopped for pensioners who had not linked their Aadhar with the databse, but after the practical difficulties emerged, it has now been decided to issue pension to all the pensioners.

In the pension schemes, the state government had taken a firm decision in the year 2016-17 when it came to notice that fraud was being carried out in some pensioners acount. After this, social welfare banned the pension of all those people who had not linked their Aadhar to the foundation. With this, pension of about two and a half lakhs out of six lakh 35 thousand of old age, widow and disabled pension schemes had been stopped.

After the move of the government, the number of complaints started between the pensioners, but still 55 thousand people have not got their Aadhar document linked. After a long stopping, the state government, while adopting a soft attitude towards these pensioners, has ordered that those who do not link their Aadhar with the foundation will be given relief till March 31.

After this, the Directorate has started preparing for issuing pension to those who fall in this category. Officials say that pension will be given after verification of the outstanding pensioners.

According to Social Welfare Director Major Yogendra Yadav, the pensioners and students of social welfare will get relief in the new year. Several new schemes are being prepared for them. The government is trying to bring the plans back on track.
