FDA approves vaccine against Corona for children aged 6 months to 5 years in the US

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday approved Pfizer and Moderna’s anti Covid-19 vaccines for emergency use in young children. In most of these countries, children of this age group have not received the vaccine dose. The agency has approved a two-dose Moderna vaccine for children between the ages of six months and five years, and Pfizer’s three-dose vaccine for children between the ages of six months and four years.

Robert Califf, chief of the Food and Drug Administration, said in a statement, “Many parents, guardians and doctors have been waiting to vaccinate young children and allow vaccines to be given to children over six months of age.” It will help in preventing Covid infection. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also has to recommend a vaccine before it can be used. After this, it will be given final approval in the meeting of the Advisory Committee of Experts. This meeting is expected to be held soon.

Meanwhile, the US administration has said that as soon as the FDA’s decision is taken, 10 million anti-Covid doses can be sent immediately across the country. After this, millions more doses can be sent in weeks. Both these vaccines are based on messenger RNAs that provide human cells with the genetic code for the coronavirus protein and help the immune system to develop again on their surface. During the trial, this vaccine was tested on thousands of children.
