Traffic stopped on Tanakpur-Pithoragarh highway after cracks develop in mountains

Seeing cracks in the hill on the Tanakpur-Pithoragarh National Highway, the administration has stopped vehicular traffic. During the road widening on Sunday, tremendous landslides left two small rubble hills here. Late night at around one o’clock, vehicles were passed after removing the debris , but in the morning when the officers took stock of the hill, they decided to stop the traffic in terms of safety.

On Monday morning, when the officers arrived, the stone was falling from the hill. Here the area of ​​about 100 meters is sensitive.

Given the seriousness of the situation, Champawat Superintendent of Police Dhirendra Gunjyal again stopped the route at 11.30 in the morning. The Superintendent of Police said that the vehicles are currently being dispatched via Ghat-Almora route. On the other hand, ADM Hemant Kumar Verma has ordered the treatment of NH by doing a geological investigation of the hill within two days.
