Cleanliness workers in Uttarkashi not paid salaries since June 2017

The holi of contract workers, working in Uttarkashi municipality , will be colorless this time. The sanitation personnel are facing severe financial problems after not getting their salary for the past seven months.

Contract cleaning workers said that the municipality has not yet given them seven months’ salary from July 2017 to January 2018. In January, in the legendary Magh Mela held on the Makar Sankranti festival, the Palika paid two months’ salary of May and June 2017 so that the event could be organized. With this salary, the workers repaid their loans.

Despite that, they could not clear all their dues. Holi is celebrated after a week. They are facing financial constraints due to lack of salary. The cleaning workers said that they have invoked the administration over the demands of wages, but their demands have not been disposed off so far.

The municipality has also kept silence on this. At the same time, Municipal Executive Officer Sushil Kumar Kuril told that the arrangement for the salary of the cleaning workers is being arranged in view of Holi festival.
