Dehradun and surrounding areas receive heavy rainfall in last 24 hours

Dehradun witnessed 2-3 times the normal rainfall in the last 24 hours, there is a red alert in Doon, Uttarkashi, Tehri. Monsoon is at its peak in the state. Torrential rains are continuing in most areas including Dehradun. There is a danger of landslides in the mountainous areas due to continuous rains. Heavy fall in mercury has been recorded due to rain in Doon. The maximum temperature has reached five degrees Celsius below normal.

Red alert of heavy rain in three districts

According to Bikram Singh, Director of the Meteorological Department, the state has received 2.5 to 3 times more rain than normal in the last 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri districts today. Red alert has been issued for these three districts.

People are urged to drive with caution as there is a possibility of landslides. Very heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Kumaon and its adjoining areas like Garhwal, Chamoli areas for July 11-12.

CM instructed the District Magistrates and Disaster Management Department to remain alert

Keeping in mind the forecast of the Meteorological Department, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed all the District Magistrates and the Disaster Management Department to remain alert. Travelers are requested to plan their journey according to the information of the Meteorological Department.

Kanwar Yatra is going on in Haridwar. There has been waterlogging due to rain. People from police, administration and disaster management are engaged in making arrangements there. All concerned officers and employees have been asked to keep the phones on continuously.

Torrential rain continued in most areas in Uttarakhand since Saturday morning. It rained intermittently from the mountain to the plain. On the other hand, there was heavy rainfall in most areas of Kumaon.

At many places in the hilly areas, the roadways were blocked due to debris. Here, there was light water-logging in the urban area in Doon, but no damage was reported anywhere.
