Fake recruitment case: Railway board on alert; double checks other departments

Railway Board has become alert after the case of irregularities in payment of salaries of the fake employees in the Delhi Rail Board. In order to ascertain that there is no such irregularity in any other division, all regional railways have been asked to examine the records of last two years.

In the preliminary investigation of the railway, it has been found that around 1.5 crore rupees have been paid in the name of fake employees. All employees are shown working as points man. Besides basic pay, these fake employees have also been paid overtime, travel allowance, night work allowance and arrears.

In this case, the clerk of the Personnel Department of Delhi division and some others are involved. After the matter was reported in January, after suspending the woman clerk of the Department of Personnel, its investigation was handed over to the Vigilance Department of Northern Railway.
This case came up during the investigation of the list of employees who got more overtime. It is being reported that the name of the fake employees was recorded in the records of the personnel department and the accounting department also kept paying the salaries and allowances without checking. The fake employee was given an overtime of Rs 85 thousand in a month.
