Government to launch Rs 350 coin to commemorate Guru Gobind Singh

A coin of 350 rupees could soon be in your pocket. The government is going to issue this memorial coin in memory of Guru Gobind Singh ji’s 350th Jayanti. This information has been given in the notification issued by the Finance Ministry. The 350th anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, the tenth and final Guru of the Sikhs, was celebrated on December 30, 2016 to January 5, 2017, in Takht, Shri Patna Sahib.

It has been said in the notification, “In the memory of Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji’s 350th anniversary, the central government will be launching a Rs 350 coin.” According to the notification, this coin will weigh 35 grams. Silver, copper, nickel and zinc will be used to make it. The coin will use up to 50% silver, 40 percent copper, 5 percent nickel and 5 percent zinc.

It has been further told that there will be Ashoka Pillar on the front of the coin. Below it will be written Satyamev Jayate. A sign of rupee and 350 in the middle will be written on this part. In addition, India on the one side of the coin will be written in English and Devanagari script on the other side. On the back of the coins, a picture of Takht Shri Harimandir ji Patna Sahib in the middle will be printed. In the upper and lower part of this picture, there will be written ‘350th jayanti of Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji’ in English and Devanagari. The year 1666 and 2016 will be engraved on both sides of the coin.
