Kumaon’s First Hill Patrol Unit deployed in Almora

The first Hill Petrol Unit of Kumaun started on Sunday with the aim of bringing prompt police service to disaster, criminal incidents  in the mountains. Minister of State for Women Empowerment and Child Development, Rekha Arya flagged off 25 two-wheeler vehicles for this unit in the Police Line ground.

This Hill Paitrol Unit has been made available in collaboration with Hero Moto Corp and Azim Team Media Expert. 10 scooters and 15 motor bikes are included in the HPU which were flagged off in the presence of the Chief Guest, Minister of State,  Rekha Arya. Addressing the program, the Chief Guest, Minister of State for Tourism, Rekha Arya said that in addition quick relief work in the disaster areas, this unit will also work on preventing women crimes. She said that this is the first of its kind unit deployed by the government in Kumaon region. She that this is an important work done for the empowerment of women by the government. The minister said that as per the requirement, during each patrol, the team will be able to reach the spot on time with the help of these vehicles. IG Kumaum Puran Singh Rawat said that this unit has been established in Almora right now. Its aim is to provide prompt police assistance while maintaining the law system. This team will prove to be effective in preventing women crimes. Addressing the program, SSP P Renuka Devi also said that the work of providing 100% service to the people on behalf of the unit will be done.
