Nainital High Court stays JE recruitment process in PTCUL and Power Corporation

The Nainital High Court has stayed the appointment process of Junior Engineers (JE) in Uttarakhand Sub-divisional Selection Commission’s Energy Corporation and PTCUL. The court has asked the government to report the ongoing inquiry into the Subordinate Service Selection Commission level. On Thursday, Justice Lokpal Singh’s bench heard the case.

Jagdish Prasad and 4 others, have filed petitions in the High Court accusing the corporations of rigging the appointment process of JE in Power Corporation and PTCUL. It said that the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission had issued a notification for recruitment of JE on September 21, 2016. The petitioners had also applied in this. The last date for the application was 31 October 2016. The Commission conducted the examination on November 5, 2017. Merit List was released on February 6, 2018. The petition also sought to create merit list to ensure transparency in the recruitment process of junior engineers. It has also been demanded to make merit again. On Thursday, the court has asked the government to submit the report of the ongoing investigation report, stopping the appointment process.

What is the case

After the results were released for 240 posts for the JE in Energy Corporation and PTCUL, there was a case of selection of 66 candidates from Roorkee coaching center. On the selection of 25 per cent candidates from Roorkee’s same coaching center, the other candidates had accused the recruitment of rigging. The matter is still under investigation.
