SGRR medical college withdraws fee hike after HC intervention

In a much awaited relief for the MBBS students, SGRR medical college has decided to remove the steep  fee  hike notice it had issued earlier. In a notice issued by the principal of SGRR it was stated that “In view of order passed by Hon’ble High Court of Uttarakhand wherein it has directed the Appellate Authority to review and fix the fee of MBBS and PG courses of 2016-17 batches within six weeks, Shri Guru Ram Rai. Institute of Medical and Health Sciences, Patel Nagar, Dehradun has withdrawn its earlier order regarding fee for 2016-17 batches of MBBS and PG courses.”

Earlier, SGRR Medical college had nearly tripled the fees for MBBS courses to around Rs 19 lakhs which had to led to mass protests by students in the campus.

“Students are directed not to waste their time and return to classes immediately” added the Principal in the order.

CM Trivendra Rawat announces SGRR MBBS fee hike withdrawl

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, has announced that the proposed fee hike by the private medical colleges of the state has been withdrawn following talks with the managements of these colleges. Talking to media persons informally at his residence on Friday, Chief Minister said that the representatives of private medical institutes had argued in the past that they have to spend huge amount of money for development of institutions and infrastructure facilities and had requested to increase the fees for medical students.

The Chief Minister said that after manifold increase in fee by the private medical colleges leading to resentment amongst the parents who also complained to him, the medical colleges were directed to withdraw the fee hike in the interest of medical students.
