Uttarakhand High Court says no to reservation for state agitators in govt jobs

The Nainital High Court has declared the reservations in government service to Uttarakhand state agitators as unconstitutional. The decision of the court has caused a major setback to the state movement agitators.

The state’s agitators were considered in the past for a 10 percent reservation case in government jobs. When the petition came last year, the opinion of two judges was different. The Court of Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia was of the opinion that it was unconstitutional to give reservation to state agitators, while Justice UC Dhyanani’s court declared reservation as valid. After which Chief Justice Justice KM Joseph had referred the case to the Third Bench. The court has already completed the trial in this case in the past. On Wednesday, Justice Lokpal Singh’s decision in the single-issue case was announced. Under which the High Court declared the matter of giving horizontal reservation to state agitators unconstitutional. This decision of the High Court has caused a major setback to the state agitators and the government.
