Old stock being sold in the new fiscal year

In the new fiscal year, giving old contractors a month extension could prove to be costly to the excise department. The contractors  are busy trying to find loopholes which could have an effect in revenue. When the decision was taken to extend the time for old contractors for one month, the first 39 contractors of the district had said that the revenue target was more and had disapproved the move. Now, such contractor operators are operating contracts for 50 to 70 per cent less revenue per day on target. According to the excise sources, the contractors increased their stock pile by showing liquor as sold. But these bottles are now being sold in the black market. On Monday, police raided the Raiwala contract shop, there were two thousand boxes of liquor without stock register there. SSP Nivedita Kukreti said that the way the contractors got the liquor of the non-stock register in large quantities, it is clear that the contractors are selling old stocks and are selling it at a new price.
