Manika Batra reaches to career high ranking in ITTF World ranking

India’s top female table tennis player Manika Batra has achieved a new milestone. The 27-year-old player has made a big move to reach the best position in the new world rankings released by ITTF. Manika gained three places in the new rankings on Tuesday and managed to achieve her career-best ranking of 35th. In the men’s section, G Sathiyan remained static at 39th while the experienced Sharath Kamal slipped three places to 47th.

Significantly, Manika had given India its first ever medal in the Asian Cup in November last year. Manika had defeated world number five Hina Hayata of Japan and world number seven Chen Xingtong of China during her historic bronze medal win in Bangkok. Manika got 175 ranking points from this performance, which helped her to move up in the rankings. Manika also made it to the semi-finals of two WTT Contender tournaments in Hungary and Slovenia.

Manika had won a medal in the Asian Cup after returning empty-handed from the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Manika had won four medals including two gold medals in Gold Coast four years before this. Manika will now compete in the Asian qualification tournament for the World Championships in Doha. She will compete in the WTBT Contender in Doha this month and then in the WTT Star Contender in Goa next month.
