This started the movement of both domestic and international flights on the airport. The PM had dedicated this terminal to the nation. This has boosted economic and industrial growth in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

Runway to be made 10400 feet long

According to Airport authority, this is the second phase of the runway repair. It will increase the runway length from 9,000 feet to 10,400 feet. In the first phase, the repair work was done from February 12 to 26. With the length of the runway, it would be easy to get the big planes to land and takeoff. This will enable direct flight service from Chandigarh to Europe, America and Australia. This airport is a marginal base for the Indian Air Force (IAF). While the airport was closed, the IAF has sent all its planes to other bases of northern India.

The spokesman said that the operations of the aircraft are being suspended on every Sunday on the airport for six months, but this will change from 1st July. They said that the aircraft will operate between 1:00 PM to 6:30 PM every Sunday from July 1. Due to the repair of the runway this change was made for the movement of the aircraft.
