France declares emergency after multiple terrorist attacks kill over a 100 in Paris
Paris: Over 100 people have been killed in shootings and explosions around Paris, many of them in a popular concert hall where patrons were taken hostage, police and medical officials said.
A police official said 11 people were killed in a Paris restaurant in the 10th arrondissement, and others said at least twice that number died elsewhere, primarily in the Bataclan concert hall, where the hostages were taken. It was unclear how many people were in the hall; one official said there were around 100 while another said there were far fewer.
It was unclear if the events were linked. BFM television reports there were several dead in the restaurant shooting in the 10th arrondissement of the capital. Two police officials confirmed the shooting but had no information about casualties. France 24 television said that president Francois Hollande had been at the Stade de France and was taken out of the area.
Hollande and his interior minister rushed were rushing from the soccer match to the ministry to deal with the unfolding situation, an official said.
Also late Friday, two explosions were heard outside the Stade de France stadium north of Paris during a France-Germany friendly football match.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is condemning “the despicable terrorist attacks” in Paris and is demanding the immediate release of numerous hostages being held in the Bataclan theater.
The Secretary-General of the NATO alliance says he is “deeply shocked by horrific Paris attacks.”
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio says New York is constantly on alert for coordinated terror attacks, especially in the wake of an attack in Paris that has killed dozens.
France has been on edge since deadly attacks by Islamic extremists in January on satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo and a kosher grocery that left 20 dead, including the three attackers. The restaurant targeted on Friday, Le Carillon, is in the same general neighborhood as the Charlie Hebdo offices.
