Sushant Singh Rajput case: Supreme Court orders CBI inquiry

The Supreme Court has decided to hand over the investigation of the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput to the CBI. There was a demand from the father of Sushant and the Bihar government to hand over the investigation of this case to the CBI. The Supreme Court rejected the Maharashtra government’s claim and directed that the Mumbai Police hand over all the evidence to the CBI for further investigation.

The SIT team formed by the CBI to probe the Sushant case will soon meet the Mumbai Police Nodal Officer (DCP CROIAM Branch Officer) and all the information related to this case such as documents, statements, forensic report, post mortem report, mobile forensic report, The bank accounts will take the forensic audit report.

The Supreme Court also said that the Bihar Police had the right to register an FIR. The FIR lodged in Patna was correct. Bihar police also had the right to investigate the matter. The Mumbai police investigated Sushant’s death till the accident aspect, while the Bihar police had registered an FIR regarding all aspects. The Bihar government was empowered to recommend a CBI inquiry.

Sushant’s father’s lawyer Vikas Singh said that this is a big win for Sushant Singh Rajput’s family. Hope to get justice now. The Mumbai Police had not even registered a case in the case yet.

On the other hand, Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey said that justice will now be done in Sushant case. This decision has increased the confidence of the people of the country in the Supreme Court.

The Bihar government has already submitted an inquiry into the FIR registered in Patna to the CBI. While the Maharashtra government was opposed to handing over the investigation of Sushant’s case to the CBI. The Maharashtra government argued that the Mumbai police should investigate the case as it has recorded the statements of 56 people in this case.

It was also said by the Uddhav government that the case of Sushant’s death is under the jurisdiction of Mumbai Police as the incident took place in Mumbai and the victims, accused and witnesses are all from Mumbai.

Significantly, Sushant’s father had first filed an FIR in Patna, but later he demanded to hand over the case to the CBI. At the same time, in the reply filed in the Supreme Court, accused Riya Chakraborty said that he had no objection to handing over the investigation to the CBI.
