Kedarnath Yatra halted due to bad weather

According to the Meteorological Department alert late night weather patterns in Dehradun and adjoining areas were severe with strong winds in the region. During this time the power supply was also cut as precautionary measure. After heavy winds, rain started in most parts of Uttarakhand. There is no information of untoward incident in any area.

According to the Meteorological Department, two days in Uttarakhand may be challenging as far as the weather is concerned. Warning has been issued that after the hailstorm, the winds s reach 70 to 80 kmph. Last week, in Kumaon, four people lost their lives. Due to severe storm forcast, schools have been declared holiday in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Haridwar, Almora and Bageshwar till 12th.
There was snowfall yesterday in Kedarnath Dham. Badrinath Dham got snowfall this morning. The Charhdam, along with the Garhwal division, many areas of Kumaon are experiencing rain and hailstorm. Due to snowfall in Hemkund, the work of preparations for the trip has stalled. On the same day, Badrinath highway near Lambagad and Yamunotri highway was blocked by landslide near Dabarkot . Badrinath pilgrims were stopped in Pandukeshwar, and Joshimath for security reasons. Many trees were uprooted in the capital due to strong winds during the night.

Snowfall in Badrinath after 12 years during the month of May

After 12 years in Badrinath the snow fell in May. For the second consecutive day, there has been snowfall in Badrinath and its surroundings. This has cooled the weather here. On Monday, there was snowfall on the Narayana Mountains and Nilkanth Mountains. Badripuri also recieved snowfall. On the Badrinath National Highway in Lambbad, a bolder has blocked the highway.

Inspite of the weather in Badrinath getting cold, there is no shortage of pilgrims. Devotees of Lord Vishnu are turning up from different parts of India to the holy town. Despite the cold, the continuation of the arrival of the passengers continued. On Sunday more than ten thousand pilgrims visited Badrinath. On Monday, more than 6 thousand passengers had visited till noon. It has been reported that in Badrinath there is snowfall in May after 12 years.
