Mumbai Indians keep play off hopes alive after defeating KKR by 13 runs

Having won 13 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders, the Mumbai Indians team kept their hopes of reaching the playoffs of IPL11 alive. In the match played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the Mumbai Indians team made 181 runs in 20 overs setting a 182 runs target for Kolkata Knight Riders in 20 overs. In response, the Kolkata Knight Riders team got 168 runs in 20 overs and Mumbai defeated KKR in their home ground. On behalf of Kolkata, Robin Uthappa scored 54 runs. Hardik Pandya took two wickets for Mumbai.

Mumbai’s 182-run target for Kolkata

Earlier, losing the toss, the Mumbai Indians team lost 4 wickets in the 20 overs and scored 181 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders. Suryakumar Yadav top scored with 59 runs for Mumbai Indians. In addition, Evin Lewis scored 43 runs.

In the end overs, Hardik Pandya batted well and scored 35 runs in 20 balls. Sunil Narine and Andre Russell were the most successful bowlers on behalf of the Kolkata Knight Riders. Both took 2-2 wickets.

In reply, chasing the target of 181, KKR’s innings was started by Chris Lynn and Shubhman Gill. For Mumbai Indians Mitchell McClenaghan was the opening bowler. However the opening stand was short lived as both openers were back in the pavilion before the power play ended.
