Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 in Champions League final; Ronaldo drops major hint on future at Real Madrid

Real Madrid becomes first team to win three consecutive  Champions League titles since 1976

Gareth Bale scored twice including an incredible overhead kick after coming off the bench as Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 3-1 in the Champions League final in Kiev. Karim Benzema struck a bizarre opening goal on 51 minutes before Liverpool, who lost leading scorer Mohamed Salah to injury in the first half, replied through Sadio Mane. The Welshman sealed a record-extending 13th European Cup title for Real with seven minutes left as a dreadful mistake from Loris Karius allowed his long-range shot to find the net.

Cristiano Ronaldo who has been the flag bearer for Real Madrid over the years dropped an enigmatic quote regarding his future with the club. “It’s been beautiful to play for Real Madrid,” said the Portuguese star. When inquired about what he meant with that sentence, he added the following:

“I’ll say more in the following days,” he concluded. Reports from Spain suggest that he wants to match Neymar and Messi’s salary. Real Madrid have been reluctant to give Ronaldo that kind of contract given his age, but they could think otherwise now that he has proven to be successful leading this team.
