Defending Champions Germany knocked out of FIFA World Cup 2018

In a shocking upset defending champions were knocked out of FIFA World Cup 2018 after losing 2-0 to Korea in the group stages. Both goals came in the extra time with Kim Young-Gwon (90’+2 minutes) and Son Heung-Min (90’+6 minutes) scoring for Korea Republic. The Koreans were solid defensively specially their goalkeeper Cho Hyun-woo, who thwarted all German shots that came at him.

The four-time winners, who had not been eliminated in a World Cup first round since 1938, were a shadow of their once dominant selves, managing only two goals in their three group games.
