CM Harish Rawat launches ‘Women Entrepreneur Park’ in Sitarganj

Women Entrepreneur Park spread over 10 acres of land

  • Business women from country urged to invest in the  state and generate additional employment for women
  • An exhibition of handicrafts from hill state Uttarakhand displayed

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today launched a Women Entrepreneur Park (WEP) spread in 10 acre of land in the Sitarganj Phase II in Udham Singh Nagar District of the state to promote industries and draw women into the sector .

“ To promote industries in the hill state and draw women in the sector the Ten acre Women Entrepreneurs Park (WEP )will be set up by the State Infrastructure and Industries Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (SIDCUL) The government will also support women who are inclined to contribute to the development and proliferation of small and medium industry in the state. A specific percentage of jobs will be reserved for women in the units located in this industrial area.” said Harish Rawat, Chief Minister, Uttarakhand Government at an Interactive session “Uttarakhand :The Next Investment Destination for Women ‘ being organised by FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) at Federation House New Delhi today.

“Uttarakhand government is committed to empower women as they are major force in improving quality of economy in any state . We want industrialists and women entrepreneurs in particular in the country to make use of the cordial atmosphere created by the state to facilitate investment. Only last week state topped the ease of doing business in the country We stood at the 23rd position in the Ease of Doing Business Rankings only 10 months back but today we have climbed to the top of the list. It proves that the state offers the best atmosphere for investments in the country at present,” CM Rawat said.

“ Uttarakhand will grow at 18 per cent by 2018 and its top position in ease of doing business signifies that the state has the best atmosphere for investment in the country . Uttarakhand is among the 7-8 fastest growing states in India and by 2018, we would grow at 18 per cent,” said Rawat

“As the hill state has immense potential for investment in the field of eco-tourism, Water and adventure sports ,aviation sector, Health and hospitality sector. A film policy was also being framed to attractive investment.” added Rawat

“To accelerate women participation in the process of economic development, the first step is to develop and promote entrepreneurship among women – and for this concerted effort is required from the Industry, government and the society. And the second and the most important step is for the women themselves to discover their talent and unleash the entrepreneur within. FLO plays a crucial tool in sensitizing and educating the women, empowering them and bringing them to the forefront.”, said Ms Vinita Bimbhet President , FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) , while speaking on the occasion.
