In the 24th minute of the match, and 29-year-old striker Diego Costa of the current Atletico Madrid team gave Spain a 1-1 equalizer. Spanish defenders made futile attempts to bind Ronaldo, but he couldn’t be contained and gave Portugal a 2-1 lead in the 44th minute.

Once again Diego Costa struck and scored making the scoreline at 2-2 in the 55th minute. Since the goal of equalizing, the Spanish players have consistently played attacking, displaying the classic ‘Tiki-taka’ football. Nacho, 28, a real Madrid friend of Ronaldo, took Spain 3-2 ahead in the 58th minute.

Eventually Ronaldo showed why he was called great. In the 88th minute, he scored a free kick to equalize Portugal 3-3. It was through the mistake of Gerard Pickque that Portugal got a free kick, which Ronaldo converted into goal in this important match.
