Government to honor PC Mahalanobis on Statistical day by issuing Rs 125 coin
Now the government will issue a coin of 125 rupees, apart from 1,2,5 and 10 rupees coin. This coin will be released on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of Statistical expert PC Mahalanobis. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu will release it on Friday.

Giving this information, the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation said that this coin will be released on the occasion of Statistics Day. The birth anniversary of Mahalanobis is celebrated as Statistics Day.
The Ministry of Statistics issued a statement saying that this year the subject of the Statistics Day is ‘quality confidence in official statistics’. For this, a program is being organized in Kolkata. Given the contribution made by Mahalanobis in the field of statistics, the government had announced every year in 2007 as the Statistics Day on June 29. Mahalanobis established the Indian Statistical Institute in 1931.
