Double Helmet policy to be implemented in Haridwar from Aug 16

After Dehradun, people who sit behind in two-wheelers in Haridwar also have to wear helmets. Those who did not do this from August 16 will be fined under the Motor Vehicle Act. After the order received from the headquarters, SSP Haridwar has instructed all the Kotwali and Thana to run the campaign. Given the road accidents, the Uttarakhand High Court had also made helmets compulsory for the two-wheeler riders behind the vehicles. Following the order of the court, the Road Safety Committee has asked to run a campaign against double helmets across the state. The campaign will run in Dehradun from 10th August. After Dehradun, this campaign will be run in Haridwar from 16th August. SSP Haridwar Krishan Kumar VK has issued instructions to run a special drive for five days. Earlier, in 2006, the then government issued notification for wearing double helmets. SSP Krishna Kumar VK said that if pillion riders do not wear helmets in two-wheeler vehicles from August 16, then action will be taken against them under the MV Act. Kothwali and Thanas, including CO Traffic, have been informed about running the campaign. Haridwar Police will appeal to people to wear helmets from 10 to 14 August. After that, action will be taken from August 16.
